Over the Australian summer 2017-2018 Christopher Williams worked alongside visual artist Therese Williams gathering field recordings at the Port Noarlunga pier in Adelaide. He created a 7-channel soundscape composition that was exhibited together with Therese’s large-scale painting from the same perspective from which the sound recordings were taken. When experienced together at Praxis Artspace, the artists found their painting/sound installation triggered the optical illusion of animating the figures (human and avian) and the sea. Other attendees reported the olfactory illusion of smelling fish and chips!
