I made Car Park during a workshop led by visiting German artist Ella Ziegler in 2019.  I collected bark, twigs, mushrooms, earth and leaves from my local park and arranged them on my car’s dashboard and bonnet.  The car was park in a back lane in Adelaide’s industrial heartland – the Port.  I liked the visual and thematic tension between the industrially manufactured car in an industrial setting and the organic ‘park’ I created with my materials.  It’s organic life was evident when the sun shone through the windscreen and the damp earth and leaves started to create steam – a new biosystem!
